Policy Advising

Boston Pacific counsels state regulatory commissions, regional transmission organizations, trade associations, corporations, government agencies, state regulators, legislators, and consumer advocates on technical, economic, and policy issues in the electricity businesses.

Boston Pacific has produced several widely distributed and respected policy reports and articles. These include a report which examined price volatility in short-term electricity markets and the implications of that research for FERC's Standard Market Design, a report on trends in electricity prices during the emerging competitive regime, and published articles regarding topics such as arguing for policymakers to stay the course on competitive reform.

We are regularly asked to speak at conferences to diverse groups on a wide range of topics affecting the electricity industry. For example, we have spoken in front of the Electric Power Supply Association, the Energy Bar Association, the National Governors' Association, and the National Electrical Manufacturers Association on topics ranging from competitive solicitations and market monitoring to reliability and market design.

Furthermore, Boston Pacific has often been invited to appear on technical panels by the FERC on policy issues such as competitive restructuring and market power measurement and mitigation.
